It’s early days in our new move to offer more to our customers via our web site. But at this point we are averaging around 60 visits each day throughout the month. Our target is 100 per day by the end of this year (2012) and then to just build from there. Can you help us? We would really appreciate your help in telling your friends on twitter, facebook and your own blogs if you have them 🙂
The more people we reach via our site, the more offers we will be able to introduce over time to give you even more value than we strive for right now and even more options. We already have had some great feedback about our web site and even had people travel to our store from over 100km away to purchase from us due to our great pricing.
Our in-store price watch has been met with hot controversy as we show the real prices comparisons when purchasing locally. The great thing about our price watch is that even if you can purchase cheaper locally, we tell you about it. So if our Dulux Weatherguard for example was cheaper at another store, we share that with you.
The whole point was to compare a true shopping basket experience to demonstrate that whilst we are an independent store, we aim to bring you the best price we can afford to deliver. We do not inflate our prices and have strict operational margins whenever possible. This combined with our great customer service brings you the ultimate shopping experience. Great service, better prices.
If you have had a good or bad experience, please tell us about it. We can be reached in store, or via our contact form on this web site and we always appreciate constructive feedback.

Their slogan is “You Can’t Buy a Better Paint for Less!” And the Feedback from our customers at Hot Pot Paint has been positive too.
With many types of paint in their range, Excelsior Paints deliver a good quality paint choice at a great price.
We stock a large range of Excelsior Paint in our Vereeniging Store and you can even use a visual tool on their web site that will help you “see it” before you actually paint it.
You can upload your own photos and see how colours would look in your own home before you come in to our store. With our specialist tinting knowledge, we can even mix the paint colour you like while you wait.
From Matt to Gloss, Eggshell to Bases, Braai paint to Facebrick Dressing, we hold it in store. Give us a call first to be sure, or feel free to pop into our store on the Houtkop Road in Vereeniging.
They even have a useful Paint Terminology page on their site you can read if you like?
OK, so its a play on “Paint the Town Red”, please excuse my poor humour, but the point of today’s top tip article is to make sure that you get the coverage right when painting your roof to protect it longer term and get the most from your money.
The thing to remember is that it will vary from paint to paint, and even how your apply it. General choices for application of roof paint would be Brush, Roller or a Conventional Spray.
In our good South African sun, you can expect it to be touch dry within the hour and able to re-coat within 4 hours. We often get asked if you can thin down the paint, but again this will depend on the paint supplier you opt for in the first place. We stock many ranges in store from Ilex to Plascon, Dulux to Excelsior (Mylaw), but for this article we will cover using Dulux Roofguard as it has a fantastic quality, is well priced for the product and great UV Protection from the hot sun.
With regard to thinning Roofguard, you can do it, but only up to a maximum of 10% with water. With regards to the sqm coverage you can typically expect from Dulux Roofguard, we recommend for a Steel Roof, around 6-8 sqm per litre and for dry tiles around 2-4sqm per litre.
Other tiles will be the same as for steel roof around 6-8 along with applications such as clading, garage doors that are galvanised, gutters and garden posts etc. Dulux recommends that you apply two coats of paint the same day for the best results and longevity of the paint.
For a roof around 250sqm, you can expect to use around 4 x 20L of paint, so an investment is going to be somewhere around the R2000 – R3200 at the time of writing this article, depending upon the paint of choice. We stock roof paints (at time of print) from R399 for 20L in our Vereeniging store, so be sure to drop by and check out our available stock, or give us a call on 016 428 5525, we will be happy to assist you.
We are in talks at this stage with a new supplier to bring you Power Tools and a New Range of Garden Equipment into Hot Pot Paint, Vereeniging.
